The Icona Vulcano has just made its official debut on the Shanghai motor show floor, and with it, we also get the first batch of photos. We finally get to see the much-teased front-engine supercar from all angles, not just the top, but the use of a wall of fire as a background is a bit over the top, and it makes the carʼs various styling details trickier to spot. Even the red background they used on their teasers, while not perfect, was better at allowing us to actually see the car…

Anyway, for those unfamiliar, it is built by Italian design firm Icona, and it features two different powertrains. One, called “H-Turismo”, which is designed for street use and mates a 6.0-liter V12 engine to a 160hp electric motor, which grants the car a combined output of 950-horses, all of which are sent to the rear wheels.

The other setup is called “H-Competizione” and it uses a smaller V6 with two turbos coupled to a pair of electric motors producing a system output of 870-horsepower, making the car all-wheel drive. It has apparently been tested in a modified Lancia 037 rally car and the results were impressive.

On the performance front, things look especially promising, because the benchmark sprint is dealt with in three seconds flat or one tenth less if you opt for the highest-powered powertrain, and the top speed is quoted as being around 350 km/h or 217 mph.

Design-wise, the Vulcano looks like a cross between a Ferrari F12/599, Lexus LF-A and even a bit Corvette in the rim design. The result is good, with lots of depth to its shapes, and an exaggerated “coke bottle” side shape it ticks all of the right boxes.

All Europe needs right now is another V8-powered supercar, which drinks fuel and costs a fortune. Mazzanti of Italy seem to think otherwise and has just revealed the Evantra V8 supercar, at the 2013 Top Marques Monaco car show, where it is right at home, among others of its kind.

Built on a steel frame, the Evantra gets its motivation from a seven-liter V8, which delivers 701 hp and 848 Nm (625 lb-ft) of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via either a manual or a sequential gearbox, both of which have six gears.

Claimed performance is brisk, with 100 km/h (62 mph) coming up in 3.2 seconds, while “a maximum velocity of over 350 km/h (218 mph)” can be achieved. Also, it gets the all-important big Brembo brakes (six-pot calipers at the front and four-pot at the back), as well as 305-section rear tires and 20-inch rims all-round.

The car features a built-in roll-cage, which boosts the stiffness of the chassis, while also providing extra protection for the occupants. Only five will be built per year, and each one will be tailor-made to fit the customerʼs needs and expectations – the words "trim" and "level" are unheard-of in these cases...

After the new Veneno that was presented at the Geneva Auto Salon in March, Lamborghini continues the roll out of new models to celebrate its 50th birthday with a special edition version of the Aventador, aptly named, "LP 720-4 50 Anniversario", only hours ahead of the supercar's world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show this weekend.

Only 100 units of the Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario will be produced, each of which will come with a Forged Composite badge featuring the "50°" logo and a serial number.

In standard trim, the special edition is finished in a new Giallo Maggio (May Yellow) as a tribute to the most preferred color chosen by Lamborghini costumers since the time of the Miura and as a reference the founding of Automobili Lamborghini in May 1963. However, Lamborghini owners can also specify other colors for their car through the brand's "Ad Personam" individualization program.

Contrasting the body color is the new aerodynamic body kit finished in black that includes an extended front apron and splitter with small flaps set into the sides, side skirts, and a brand new rear bumper with an enlarged diffuser. The wheels are also painted in black.

According to Lamborghini, "Overall, handling stability at extreme speeds has been optimized without impacting drag characteristics due to an increase of more than 50% in the aerodynamic efficiency compared to the Aventador LP 700-4".

Inside, buyers can choose from two shades, Nero Ade (black) combined with Terra Emilia (brown) brown or Giallo Quercus (yellow) semi-aniline leather in a diamond pattern, specifically developed for the Aventador 50° Anniversario.

Last but not least, Lamborghini engineers re-calibrated the Aventador's 6.5-liter V12 powerplant that gains 20hp over the standard model for a total of 710hp (720PS). A fast-shifting ISR transmission drives all-four wheels with Lamborghini quoting a 0-100km/h (62mph) time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h (218mph).
